Winter can be a funny season. Some days we’re rugged up and eager to get outside, and other days everyone would much rather stay inside by the heater.
And honestly, I can’t really blame them.
To encourage us all to get outside for a bit of fresh air, we’ve started doing simple “I Spy” walks and nature scavenger hunts on our way to the park.
The idea is beyond simple: make a list of 10–20 things you’re likely to spot on your walk. Include a few easy finds so kids feel successful straight away, but throw in a couple of trickier items too, so the hunt isn’t over before you’ve reached the end of the street.
What I love most about this activity is how flexible it is. You can tailor it to your child’s interests, your local area, the season, or even the weather that day.
